ABOUT POCKETCLINICIAN
Clinical Education, Built From Experience
PocketClinician was created with a simple aim: to make clinical learning clearer, more practical and more relevant to the realities of pre-hospital care.
I'm a UK registered paramedic and the founder of PocketClinician. Having experienced both sides of clinical education, learning as a student and continuing to develop as a qualified clinician. I know how easy it is to understand something in a textbook or lecture, only to find it much harder to apply when there's a real patient in front of you.
That's why PocketClinician focuses on more than simply giving you information. The aim is to help you understand what you're learning, recognise what matters and develop the confidence to apply that knowledge in clinical practice.
From ECG interpretation and history taking to clinical reasoning and patient assessment, the education within PocketClinician is designed with paramedics, student paramedics and ambulance clinicians in mind. Complex topics are broken down into structured, understandable learning while always bringing the focus back to the patient.
PocketClinician has grown from educational resources and pocketbooks into a wider learning platform, with online courses, memberships, clinical cases, ECG challenges and ongoing learning designed to support clinicians throughout their development.
I also believe that becoming a better clinician isn't about knowing everything. It's about continuing to learn, asking questions, reflecting on your practice and gradually building the knowledge and confidence to make better clinical decisions.
That's what PocketClinician is here to help you do.
Tommy Knight
Founder of PocketClinician | UK Registered Paramedic

Hi, I'm Tommy, a UK registered paramedic, educator and the person behind PocketClinician.
My journey into paramedicine started as a student trying to make sense of the same clinical topics that many student paramedics struggle with today. Over the years, I've continued to develop my knowledge through clinical practice, continued professional development, specialist education, conferences and learning from clinicians across different areas of healthcare.
One of the things I've always enjoyed most is taking something that initially seems complicated and finding a way to make it easier to understand. Whether that's ECG interpretation, clinical reasoning or understanding why a patient is presenting the way they are, I believe learning becomes much more useful when you understand the reasoning behind it rather than simply memorising information.
Alongside working as a paramedic, I've spent years creating educational content and resources for student paramedics and ambulance clinicians through PocketClinician. What started with simple educational content has developed into pocketbooks, clinical resources, online education and now the PocketClinician Academy.
Ultimately, I'm a paramedic who genuinely enjoys learning about clinical practice, and even more importantly, enjoys helping other people understand it.
